Brief Job Description

The Department of Communication at SUNY Buffalo State is seeking an assistant professor (tenure track) in the area of media production, to begin in August 2018.

The appointee will teach three undergraduate courses per semester in media production and other college core courses as assigned; engage in scholarly research and creative activity; advise students; and participate in department, college, and community service.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or a M.F.A. in media production or related field; college-level teaching experience; ability to teach media production courses with a core area of expertise in two of the following areas: audio, video, tv studio, advertising or narrative production, scriptwriting, and selected departmental core courses (media writing, speech, visual communication or media literacy); professional media production experience; a record of creative activity and exhibition in media production and/or scholarship, and the potential for the continuation of such work.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to teach courses addressing media ethics, media criticism, new media, or communication law; and a working knowledge of Avid Media Composer.
